The main characteristic of simple present tense is using the root form of the verb. For the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> singular person \u2013 he, she, it \u2013 add the \u2018-s\u2019 or \u2018<em>-es<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>When should we use simple present tense?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We use simple present tense for the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To express habitual actions or repeated actions.<\/li>\n<li>To show general truths or scientific facts.<\/li>\n<li>To give directions or instructions.<\/li>\n<li>To state thoughts or opinions or feelings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note: We do not use simple present tense to indicate an action that is <em>happening right now<\/em>.
