There are a lot of words that we can use to express quantity in English<\/a>, such as much, many, a lot of, plenty of, a little, a few, some, any<\/em>, etc.<\/p>\n

In general, the usage of these words depends on whether they are countable or uncountable nouns.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s learn how to use each of them in the correct way!<\/p>\n

Countable vs Uncountable Nouns<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Countable nouns are objects that can be counted, while uncountable nouns cannot be counted.<\/p>\n

Countable nouns may have both singular and plural forms.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, uncountable nouns only have a singular form.<\/p>\n

Large Quantity Quantifiers<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Offering or Requests<\/u><\/h4>\n

When you want to offer or request something from someone, use some<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Would you like to have some juices?<\/p>\n

Can I have some bread, please?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

Interrogatives<\/u><\/h4>\n

Both some<\/em> and any<\/em> can be used in interrogatives.<\/p>\n

However, they are being used in different ways.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s say:<\/p>\n

You are in a bakery and you want to buy a cheesecake.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If you see the cheesecake<\/span> on the display, you would say:<\/p>\n

Can I have some of these cheesecakes, please?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, if there is no cheesecake<\/span> on the display, you would say:<\/p>\n

Have you got any cheesecakes?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
