French has the similar system where every infinitive is followed by a suffix, either <em>-er, -ir <\/em>or <em>-re<\/em>.\u00a0<em>donner<\/em> (meaning to give) is used as an example!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stem<\/em><\/strong> is the root of a verb. To find out the <strong><em>stem<\/em><\/strong> of the infinitive, you have to cut off the suffix.
