These two words seem like synonyms, but they are not really the same.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>High<\/h5>\n<p><strong>High <\/strong>expresses <strong>elevation<\/strong>, the <strong>distance<\/strong> of an object <strong>from the ground<\/strong>. High is commonly used to describe the height of a mountain. Besides, we also use <em>high <\/em>for an object which is beyond our reach or far above the ground. <em>e.g.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>mountains<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>ceilings<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>a high <\/em>window<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>a high <\/em>tower<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, we can use <em>high<\/em> in other contexts:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>hopes<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>in fiber<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>temperature<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>high <\/em>IQ<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5>Tall<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Tall<\/strong> expresses <strong>height<\/strong>, the <strong>length<\/strong> of an object, <strong>from the top the bottom<\/strong> of the object. In addition, tall is used for an object that has above average in height. <em>e.g.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a <em>tall <\/em>person<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a <em>tall <\/em>tree<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a <em>tall <\/em>building<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a <em>tall<\/em> giraffe<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Measurements<\/h5>\n<p>We use <strong>high<\/strong> to measure the height of an <strong>object<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The pine tree is 50m high.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When measuring the height of a <strong>person<\/strong>, use <strong><em>tall<\/em><\/strong>. If you use high, let\u2019s say: \u201cThe person is high\u201d, it means that the person has been using drugs. Thus:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">James is 6ft tall (the height of James is 6ft).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">James is taller than me (the length of his body is greater than mine).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">James is higher than me (James\u2019s location is above mine).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start to learn a new language.
