Do you think that \u2018come in\u2019 and \u2018go in\u2019 have the same meaning?<\/p>\n

While both phrases are the synonym to the word \u2018enter\u2019, they are actually being used in different ways!<\/p>\n

If you are at inside your house, and you\u2019re asking the guest to enter your house, you\u2019ll have to say: \u201ccome in\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, if you are at the outside of your house with the guest, and you\u2019re letting the guest enter your house first, you\u2019ll have to say: \u201cgo in\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The key lies in the perspective of the speaker \u2013 the same rules apply in Chinese \u2018to come\u2019 and \u2018to go\u2019 as well.<\/p>\n

Come vs Go<\/strong> in<\/strong> Chine<\/strong>se<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u4f86<\/strong> [<\/strong>\u6765<\/strong>] (<\/strong>l\u00e1i<\/strong>)<\/strong> is used to indicate \u2018to come\u2019 \u2013 the action is coming closer to the speaker.<\/p>\n
